Forge House Models - Road Safety Car
Based on an original idea by Dave Milford, Road Safety Officer for Middlesbrough Council, Forge House Models have manufactured a teaching aid to promote the importance of children wearing seat belts in moving vehicles. The aid consists of a rolling vehicle, adjustable height fold-away ramp, two adults and one child plus a catapult.
Interactive to involve children. An ideal resource to Council Road Safety officers or Community Safety Workshops.
The vehicle has a hinged lift up body for access to the interior. Inside there are two front adult seats and one rear child seat, all fitted with seat belts.
The dashboard has a facility for easily installing cardboard framed, tissue paper windscreens.
The ramp which is adjustable in height and can be folded for storage or transport, incorporates a press button latching/launching mechanism for the vehicle.
The objective is to load the family into the vehicle, first without seatbelts fastened and release it down the ramp. When the car hits the bottom stop, the occupants, as in any actual crash if not restrained, are propelled forward impacting with the interior front of the vehicle and the windscreen.
Catapult which may be used to demonstrate the link between the projection of a missile from the catapult sling, and the projection of drivers/passengers from the seats of motor vehicles, if unrestrained, in the event of an accident.
